Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Statement on Senate Democrats' Filibuster Abuse

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today issued the following statement regarding Senate Democrats' filibuster abuse:

"Senate Democrats seem intent on preventing highly qualified women and minorities from serving on our nation's high courts. According to Senate Democrat memos, they targeted Miguel Estrada because ‘he is Latino.' Sadly, Democrats have shown that they do not care about the advancement of Hispanics, but rather only with the advancement of Democrats who happen to be Hispanic.

"Senate Democrats prefer playing partisan politics rather than do their job and vote. By their radical actions, Senate Democrats are eroding the Senate's decorum. Highly qualified and highly respected judicial nominees who are approved through committee deserve an up-or-down vote."
