Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the Jacksonville area gained 12,700 new jobs over the year in October. The Jacksonville area's unemployment rate declined by 1.0 percentage point over the year to 4.8 percent in October. Florida businesses have added 978,800 private-sector jobs since December 2010.
Governor Scott said, "The Jacksonville area has continued to add jobs and the unemployment rate continues to drop because of our priority to cut taxes and diversify our economy. We will keep working every day to make Florida first for job growth."
