Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the Tampa Bay area added 37,100 new jobs over the year in October. The unemployment rate in the Tampa Bay area declined by 0.9 percentage point over the year to 4.8 percent in October. Florida businesses have added 978,800 private-sector jobs since December 2010.
Governor Scott said, "The Tampa Bay area ranks first in the number of job openings in the state, especially in high-wage STEM jobs, which means more opportunities are available for local Floridians to succeed and provide for their families. The Tampa Bay area is continuing to be a great location for diverse businesses to grow and create jobs for families."
