Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) today issued the following statement regarding the two-year budget agreement:
"We must break the cycle of brinksmanship that has regularly defined the dysfunction in Congress, and move past manufactured crises that have serious consequences for our families, seniors and the middle class," DelBene said. "As a businesswoman and entrepreneur, I understand that you don't craft a budget for just a few months at a time, you develop long-term plans looking years out. While this isn't the budget I would write, locking in a two-year agreement with significant relief from the damaging effects of sequestration will help provide certainty and stability, allowing the middle class and our economy to grow.
"This deal is also good for our nation's seniors. It avoids harmful cuts to Medicare and Social Security that had been proposed, while preventing dramatic increases in Medicare Part B premiums and deep cuts to Social Security Disability Insurance."
