Congresswoman Dina Titus released the following statement regarding her introduction of the Medicare Premium Fairness Act, legislation to protect seniors and people with disabilities from an unfair increase in their 2016 Medicare Part B premiums. The Medicare Premium Fairness Act will extend the 2015 premium and deductible rates through 2016 for all Medicare enrollees.
"My legislation will keep premium and deductible rates at 2015 levels, and will protect our seniors from shouldering the burden of these increases when too many are struggling to make ends meet. Such increases are unacceptable for seniors who count on every dollar of their benefits." Without Congressional action, an estimated 7.5 million American seniors and people with disabilities will see their premiums increased from $104.90 per month to more than $150 per month, and the deductible increased from $147 per month to $223 per month in 2016.
