Titus Announces Homeland Security Grant Funding for the State of Nevada and Las Vegas Metropolitan Area

Today Congresswoman Dina Titus from Nevada's First District announced the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency will award federal grant funds to the State of Nevada and Las Vegas metropolitan area. Nevada will receive $3.7 million as part of the FY 2015 State Homeland Security Funding Program and over $4.4 million as part of the FY 2015 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program. Las Vegas will receive $3 million as part of the FY 2015 Urban Area Security Initiative Program and $75,000 in Nonprofit Security Grant Program funds.

"These grants provide communities in Nevada and across the country the resources needed to best prevent, protect against, mitigate, and respond to acts of terrorism or natural disasters," said Rep. Titus. "With tens of thousands of tourists and business travelers visiting Las Vegas every day, sufficient funding for counterterrorism activities is critical to Las Vegas' ability to protect the residents of our great city and to ensure the safety and security of those who travel here."
