Today, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined Fox News' America's Newsroom to discuss the need for a special counsel oversee the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private email server.

Excerpts from the interview are below.

"Well right now, the question is how many different classified emails did she have on her private email server, and does that jeopardize the intelligence value of those?"

"We have no idea how much intelligence that might have jeopardized -- the safety and security of some of our operatives or our foreign policy negotiations around the world -- because she was so reckless as to have this on a private email server."

"The reason I called for a special counsel is because I don't have the same confidence in the Attorney General, who is a political appointee of the President. We need somebody with some independence who will work with the FBI and follow the facts where they may lead and to enforce the law."
