Today, Representative Tim Walz released the following statement after he supported the budget deal that passed the House:
"While no budget agreement of this magnitude is ever perfect and there are things I would do differently, I supported the agreement today in the interest of our economic stability as a nation. When the agreement was first released, I had substantial concerns about the crop insurance provisions contained in the proposal. My colleagues and I worked diligently with House and Senate Leadership and the White House to see that those concerns were addressed, and they have committed to completely reversing this provision in the upcoming omnibus. Ensuring our producers can feed, fuel and clothe the world ensures a strong economy for America. This agreement halts the cycle of governing from crisis to crisis over the next few years, allows our nation to plan longer into the future, stops harmful cuts to our seniors, and provides for a strong national defense. We still have work to do, including a long-term transportation bill, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the months to come."
