Gov. Rick Scott: Naples Area Added More Than 4,000 New Jobs Over Year

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the Naples area experienced positive annual job growth with an increase of 4,100 jobs over the year in August 2015. The area's unemployment rate declined by 1.1 percentage points over the year, from 7.0 percent in August 2014 to 5.9 percent in August 2015.  Florida businesses have added 940,600 private-sector jobs since December 2010.

Governor Scott said, "I am excited to announce another month of positive job growth in Naples, with more than 4,000 jobs created over the year.  We are working to make Florida the top destination for jobs so more companies will choose to grow and create job opportunities for our families."

The industries gaining the most jobs in the metro area over the year in August 2015 were education and health services with 800 new jobs and professional and business services with 700 new jobs. The Naples metro area had 4,083 online job openings in August 2015, and the area also had 712 online openings for high wage, high skill science technology engineering math (STEM) occupations.

Florida created 20,100 private-sector jobs in August 2015, and a total of 940,600 private-sector jobs since December 2010. Florida's statewide unemployment rate for August 2015 was 5.3 percent. In August, more than 37,900 Floridians were placed in jobs by CareerSource Southwest Florida and the state's other 23 regional workforce boards.
