Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement today following the election of Speaker of the House Paul D. Ryan, whom he supported in Conference and on the House floor.

"Today I was proud to support Paul Ryan for Speaker because he has consistently focused on long-term solutions to the problems with our budget and our tax code. Critically, he has also pledged to reform procedural rules in the House that have marginalized ideas and silenced the debates we need to have.

"Beyond being one of our party's most effective communicators, Paul is a family man with conservative values and a strong faith in God. I look forward to working with him to get the House of Representatives and this country back on track."
