Mr. DANNY K. DAVIS of Illinois. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to
acknowledge the Girls Like Me Project Inc for their 4th Annual Chicago
Day of the Girl, this organization has connected more than 500
Chicagoland girls with the global girl empowerment movement. Since 2011
this non-for-profit group has been mentoring urban African-American
girls in hopes to help them make positive life choices and connect
globally with their peers. International Day of the Girl was adopted by
the United Nations in 2011, since then millions of girls and women
around the globe have participated in this movement to help educate and
shed light on social and political injustices impacting girls and women
across the globe. I support the Girls Like Me Project and commend them
for their continued efforts to help the disenfranchised young women in
the Chicagoland area and for their continued work with the global
initiative known as International Day of the Girl.
