Johnson Applauds Passage of Cybersecurity Bill

Statement

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, applauded the Senate passage of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act on Tuesday. The bill will improve cybersecurity in federal agencies and within private companies by enabling better information sharing.

"The cyber threat we face today is real, and it is growing," Sen. Johnson said. "There is no easy solution, but there are things Congress can do to improve cyber security that might make cyberattacks more difficult. The Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act is a first step. It will put federal agencies on track to implement common-sense cybersecurity solutions, and as a result, improve the security of Americans' data at federal agencies. I am pleased to see it pass the full Senate."

Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, commended Sen. Johnson's efforts on the bill last Thursday on the floor of the Senate, saying, "Let me once again thank Chairman Johnson and Ranking Member Carper for the unbelievable contribution that both of them individually made in their committee."
