Statement On Vote To Keep Government Operating

Statement

Date: Sept. 30, 2015

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement after voting for a short-term spending bill to keep the government operating through December 11. The bill passed the House and Senate today and now goes to President Obama for his signature.

"It's hard to call a stopgap spending bill a victory, but I'm glad Republicans were not successful in shutting down the government over Planned Parenthood funding. There is a lot lacking in this short-term bill, like reauthorization for the Export-Import Bank, but it avoids a government shutdown and all the damage to the economy that would cause."
