"The proposal to eliminate early voting at the Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center in Bethesda and the Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center in Burtonsville would negatively impact thousands of potential voters. It stands in stark contrast to the spirit of the law, which is to improve convenience for the greatest number of early voters as possible.
"This should not be a partisan issue -- Republicans and Democrats should stand together to make voting easier for all Marylanders. I recently wrote to the State Board of Elections urging the rejection of this proposal, and I stand with the thousands of voters who signed Councilmember Hucker's petition demanding that the Board reverse course and maintain both the Praisner and Lawton Community Centers as early voting sites. Doing so will preserve the nonpartisan integrity of our voting system and ensure the greatest number of voters are able to exercise their right to vote."
