"This tragedy truly laid bare just how vulnerable we are when we ignore economic inequality and chronic poverty, our crumbling infrastructure, and the power of our risings seas. We cannot lose sight of the task at hand.

"On this anniversary, we must redouble our efforts to tackle the issues of poverty, education, and access to health care. We must make the necessary investments in our national infrastructure -- not just to handle storms, but to rebuild crumbling roads and bridges. And we cannot ignore the pressing need to combat climate change.

"Together, we must build the strongest communities possible so this great nation can weather any storm that comes our way."
