Van Hollen Statement on WMATA Report on Silver Line Derailment

Statement

"It should not have taken a derailment for WMATA to identify the potential for human error in the track inspection process. This incident points to a broader lack of checks and balances and a deficient culture of safety at Metro. These are unacceptable safety lapses that simply cannot be tolerated in a system that more than 700,000 people rely on every day, including many of my constituents. I join every Metro rider in demanding nothing less than immediate action to solve the multiple problems outlined in this report."
