During this District Work Week I was delighted to meet with constituents across the 32nd Congressional District. I had the opportunity to talk with students and meet with community leaders and small business professionals to discuss important issues facing our community, state, and nation.
Meeting with North Texas Students
On Monday I was pleased to talk with AP Government students at Wylie High School about current events impacting our nation as well as my role as their elected representative in the House of Representatives. I always enjoy discussing the legislative process with students and getting their feedback on what they believe are the most important issues facing our nation.
Texas A&M University Dallas Alumni Class of 1960
On Wednesday morning I was delighted to meet with Dallas alumni from Texas A&M University's Class of 1960. We had a robust discussion about where our country is headed, the state of our economy, and my thoughts on how we can get our country back on track. America is currently at a crossroads and I believe we need effective leadership to implement conservative solutions to give North Texans and Americans across the country the opportunities they need to succeed.
MetroTex Association of Realtors
This morning I participated in the MetroTex Association of Realtors Forecast 2016 event. I gave a legislative update and discussed how current initiatives would impact the North Texas business and real estate communities. The House has passed numerous pieces of legislation to help the housing market, including H.R. 685, the Mortgage Choice Act of 2015, and H.R. 650, the Access to Manufactured Housing Act. In addition, at the end of this month Congress is expected to consider a long-term transportation funding bill to address our nation's growing infrastructure needs. I have diligently worked with North Texans to expand and bolster our existing infrastructure, ease the regulatory burdens on homebuyers, and fight against this Administration's continued assault on the free-enterprise system. Despite interference from Washington the North Texas economy is booming and I remain committed to ensuring our region has the tools necessary to thrive.
