This week I had the opportunity to meet with community and business leaders in North Texas to discuss important issues facing the 32nd Congressional District. I was delighted to spend time with them and learn more about how we can work together to tackle these important issues.
Meetings with North Texans
Wylie Chamber of Commerce
On Tuesday I was pleased to participate in the Wylie Chamber of Commerce Annual Legislative Breakfast to discuss the important conservative legislation that the House has passed this year. This year the House has passed legislation to create jobs, protect our borders and strengthen interior enforcement, significantly cut funding to the EPA and IRS, and repeal some of the most onerous parts of ObamaCare including repealing SGR and restoring the 40-hour work week. In addition to discussing our legislative achievements I also discussed the legislative agenda for the rest of the year.
BBVA Compass Employee Town Hall
This week I also had the opportunity to talk with employees at BBVA Compass in Dallas to discuss my commitment to creating a pro-growth environment to let the free-enterprise system grow and thrive. I believe this Administration's policies have saddled businesses with unnecessary, onerous regulations that have strangled economic growth and stymied job creation.
Joint Session of Congress with His Holiness, Pope Francis
This week Pope Francis made a historic visit to the United States and delivered a powerful speech to Members of Congress during his Joint Session Address. During the Pope's speech he respectfully delivered his sentiments of unity, compassion, and responsibility. He challenged us as members to embrace our roles as representatives and to implement policies that help all Americans and strengthen our great nation. I am deeply honored that I was able to be a part of such an extraordinary event and I thank His Holiness for blessing our country with his thoughtful remarks.
