Statement

Since the Obama Administration unveiled the Iran nuclear deal in July, the majority of Americans and Members of Congress have expressed their complete opposition to this disastrous deal. There is no reason why America should reward a terrorist state that cries "Death to America," has vowed to destroy our friend and ally, Israel, and presents a clear danger to the entire world. Members of the House understand the devastating consequences that will come from this deal, which is why we took the time to methodically work through this issue and understand the global implications that could arise because of the president's irresponsible actions.

This week, I proudly voted on three measures to oppose the Iran nuclear deal. This deal gives the leading sponsor of terrorism access to billions of dollars, legitimizes their efforts to destabilize the Middle East, and puts the entire world in grave danger. I adamantly oppose this deal and I will continue fight to protect the safety and security of our nation and our allies.

Meetings in Washington
American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai
On Thursday, I sat down with members from the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. As the largest and fastest growing American Chamber of Commerce in the Asia-Pacific region, the Chamber works to promote American commercial interests abroad and ensure American companies doing business in China have access to fair and unbiased business resources. Ultimately, with China rapidly implementing several economic policies of unprecedented scale, backed by tens of billions of dollars in state government financing, it remains vitally important that House Republicans do our upmost to protect American businesses and promote open markets, private enterprise, and the unrestricted flow of information.

Semiconductor Industry Association
Thursday afternoon I met with leadership from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) to discuss semiconductor production in our country and the future of the industry. As one of our top export industries, semiconductors are vital to U.S. economic strength, technology leadership, and national security. Furthermore, semiconductor innovations form the foundation for America's $1.1 trillion dollar technology industry and supports more than 28,000 jobs in the state of Texas - the second largest semiconductor job market in the nation. Through the SIA, and the newly formed congressional Semiconductor Caucus of which I am a co-chair, we will continue to promote policy that strengthens U.S. leadership of semiconductor design and manufacturing.

Honoring a Dallas Legend
This week I joined my friends and fellow Texans in celebrating the life of one of my dear friends and Dallas legend, Ebby Halliday. Ebby was an extraordinary women whose entrepreneurial spirit, grace, and vision made her a national and local leader of her time. Through her fearless leadership in the real estate industry and immense philanthropic efforts she changed the landscape of Texas forever. I knew Ebby for more than 25 years and I am proud to have called this wonderful woman my friend. She made an imprint on our community that will live on forever and I know she will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
