Statement

On Sunday I was delighted to join Julie Fine from NBC-5 on Lone Star Politics to discuss important issues facing our nation, including my new bill to strengthen interior enforcement and eradicate sanctuary cities. Recent events across the country, especially the horrific murder in San Francisco, have highlighted the severe problem we are facing in regard to criminal illegal aliens. We cannot sit idly by and watch this problem spin out of control, we must take action. That is why I joined my friend Senator Jeff Sessions in introducing the Protect American Lives Act to tackling this nationwide problem. This critical legislation takes a comprehensive approach to this national issue. It strengthens and clarifies the authority of ICE to deport illegal immigrants, prohibits federal funds from going to cities that do not comply with ICE, increases incarceration time for aliens who are deported and reenter our country, and requires DHS to complete an annual report on sanctuary cities.
