U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and a Member of House Republican Leadership, today released the following statement regarding the terrorist attacks in Anakara, Turkey on October 10, 2015:
"As a longtime friend of Turkey and the Turkish people, I strongly condemn the October 10, 2015 terrorist attacks which resulted in over 97 deaths and countless wounded in Ankara, the nation's capital.
"Shortly after the attacks, our State Department stated "We stand together in solidarity with the Turkish people and reaffirm our determination to continue to work with Turkey to combat the shared threat of terrorism."
"On my many visits to Turkey, I was deeply impressed by the generosity, strength, and resilience of the Turkish people. I know they will rely on these strengths to emerge from this heinous terrorist attack stronger as a nation.
"I join my fellow Americans in expressing our sincere condolences to the Turkish people. Our hearts and minds are with you and we will continue to stand by your side to fight this continued threat of terrorism."
