U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and a Member of House Republican Leadership, today released the following statement regarding the Continuing Resolution for fiscal year 2016:
"Today the House was once again faced with the task of passing a short term resolution to keep our government running. This vote is yet another reminder that the House must return to regular order to prevent having to rely on these last minute patchwork funding bills.
"While I believe it is critical that we fund the government, I could not support this stop-gap measure because it did not put an end to taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood. Since the horrific Planned Parenthood videos came to light this summer, I have shared the public's disgust with this organization's alleged behavior. As a father and a staunch defender of all life, I believe it is imperative that we put an end to these gruesome practices. "
