Newsletter: Planned Parenthood: The Claims vs. The Truth

Statement

On Thursday, I voted against an irresponsible, last-minute resolution to fund the government. This eleventh-hour proposal did not enjoy my support for two main reasons:

1) It continued funding Planned Parenthood - an organization engaging in despicable acts of disregard for human life;

and,

2) It did nothing to rein in federal agencies or their ineffective, inefficient programs.

My goals in Congress have always been simple: control spending, advance conservative policies, and keep taxes low for Hoosier families. The funding bill was an enormous missed opportunity to work toward those goals. With Republican majorities in both chambers of Congress, we can and must do better by the American people.

In somewhat related news, as part of our ongoing investigation into Planned Parenthood, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee questioned Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards on Tuesday. Many of Richards statements while under oath contradict prior talking points she has used to try and defend Planned Parenthood's morally reprehensible practices.
