Stutzman Supports Repeal of Crude Oil Export Ban

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement today following the passage of H.R. 702, a bill to repeal federal restrictions on foreign sales of American energy products, by a 261-159 vote.

"The shale revolution has made America an energy superpower and we have the energy jobs and gas prices to prove it. Unfortunately, some politicians insist on maintaining the backwards energy policies of the 1970s, including the federal government's export ban on crude oil. Today, the oil ban actually benefits energy competitors like Russia and Saudi Arabia at Americans' expense.

"Whether it's through new jobs or lower energy prices, this common sense bill would help more Hoosiers share in the prosperity of America's energy boom. It's time to tear down this outdated, unnecessary barrier and unleash the full potential of America's energy renaissance."
