Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga released the following statement after Speaker of the House John Boehner announced he would be retiring at the end of October.
"In an always difficult and often thankless job, John Boehner has worked to put our nation first. It is hard to find a person in Washington who cared more for the future of America's children than Speaker Boehner. Whether it was protecting the unborn or making sure children had the ability to go to a school of their choice, John Boehner was fighting for them. I want to thank Speaker Boehner for his commitment and service in making our country a better place for the next generation."
"In our conference's search for the next Speaker, we need to select a leader who can clearly and forcefully communicate our conservative principles to the American people. Republicans have firm control of the House and our agenda moving forward needs to reflect that."
