Collins Votes to Protect the United States from a Nuclear Iran

Statement

Today, Congressman Doug Collins voted against H.R., "To Approve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, signed at Vienna on July 14, 2015, relating to the nuclear program of Iran". Following the votes on three House measures regarding the Iran nuclear agreement,Congressman Collins issued the following statement:

"On the anniversary of the September 11th attacks, I voted to keep the world safe from future terrorism. Under no circumstances can we allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon. From the beginning, we knew this would be a bad deal for America, which is why I voted against Corker-Cardin, the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015. We saw the danger that is coming, and ever since, I have been urging my colleagues to stand together against it."

"The agreement made by the Obama Administration paves the way for an attack on Israel, and an attack on American soil. It lifts sanctions, in exchange for only 10 years of cooperation from Iran, who is allowed under the agreement to keep it's centrifuges spinning all the while."

"The American people overwhelmingly oppose the agreement, and even Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has spoken out against giving Iran this free pass. How can we make a deal with a country that chants, "Death to America" in public?"

"I voted against the agreement because it does not do a single thing to permanently prevent Iran from creating weapons of mass destruction, which be aimed directly at Israel and the U.S., and will almost certainly create more instability in the already fragile Middle East."
