Klobuchar, Franken, Nolan Announce Over $6.3 Million for Transit in Duluth

U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, along with Representative Rick Nolan, today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the Duluth Transit Authority $6,343,890 to purchase six electric buses and to install two charging stations.

"This award will expand transportation options and help protect the environment for the residents of Duluth," said Klobuchar. "These buses are a critical investment in building a 21st century transportation network that reduces road congestion and improves access and mobility."

"This new funding will allow Duluth to expand its clean energy transportation network," said Franken. "Making these type of public transit investments is important for Minnesota's overall economy, for the region, and for our environment."

"Our beautiful city of Duluth has become a model for the nation in so many areas involving quality of life - and these electric busses and charging stations mark another remarkable step forward in building a quieter, cleaner, safer and more environmentally friendly transportation system that residents and visitors alone will use and enjoy," said Nolan.
