U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed H.R. 702, a bill that would lift the 40-year ban on the export of crude oil:

"For far too long this antiquated law has stifled American job creation and prevented lower energy costs at home and abroad," Sen. Cornyn said. "Today's vote to lift the ban was an essential step forward in strengthening our economy and empowering our allies to diversify their resources and enhance their energy security."
