Statement

Date: Sept. 2, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., chairman and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, respectively, today released the following statement on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Inspector General report on the Veterans Health Administration's Health Eligibility Center:

"The findings in the Office of the Inspector General's report point to both a significant failure on behalf of past leadership at the Health Eligibility Center and deficient oversight by the VA central office. We urge the VA to implement the inspector general's recommendations quickly to improve record keeping at the VA and ensure that this level of blatant mismanagement does not happen again."
