Lofgren, Honda announce $2.5 million for Mineta San Jose International Airport

U.S. Reps. Zoe Lofgren (CA-19) and Mike Honda (CA-17) today announced over $2.5 million in federal funding for Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport.

"This funding is much-needed to further improve the Mineta San José International Airport. It will not only create good-paying jobs, but continue to make Mineta Airport one of the safest and most modern airports. It is only fitting that the airport that serves the innovation capital of the world, Silicon Valley, should be cutting edge and able to attract new carriers and provide international flights. I'm happy that the Department of Transportation and FAA have recognized the importance of this project to improve safety at our airport," said Congressman Honda.

"Mineta San José International Airport is a critical transportation hub for Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. I am pleased to see SJC receive this Department of Transportation grant, which will fund several runway and taxiway improvements necessary to ensure our downtown airport is operated safely and efficiently," said Congresswoman Lofgren.

The grant, administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration, will fund the installation of airfield guidance signs and runway guard lights and rehabilitate a key runway at Norman Y Mineta San Jose International Airport.
