Hoeven: FEMA Awards More Than $230,000 to Enhance Fire Safety in North Dakota

Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee on Homeland Security, today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded $232,953 to the Buffalo Rural Fire Protection District and the Linton Fire District. The award is made under the FY 2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program and is round 14 of AFG Program announcements. As chairman, Hoeven oversees the annual funding for FEMA and other agencies at DHS.

"It's important for us to ensure that our emergency responders are equipped with the training and resources they need to keep North Dakota's communities safe," Hoeven said. "This funding will help support professional training, personal protective equipment and modifications to facilities so that our firefighters can continue their important service to our state."
