Rep. Wagner Votes in Support of 21st Century Cures

Statement

Date: July 10, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

"Disease touches everyone at one time or another, whether through personal experience or that of a loved one or a friend. It's heartbreaking to meet a grandmother whose retirement travel plans have been cut short by the onset of ALS or talk to a young mother of three who at age 32 is dying from incurable heart disease. These stories are all too common because there are 10,000 known diseases or conditions but only 500 cures and treatments for them," Rep. Wagner said.

"That's why I was proud to support the 21st Century Cures Act and the historic step it takes to increase medical research in this country and begin to save lives and keep Missouri families together. I have met too many Missourians over the past three years who need answers for their families and treatment for their loved ones. This bill will make those cures a reality and offer new opportunities for research and development at the National Institutes of Health, delivering real solutions to our families."
