Womack Statement on EPA CPP Regulations

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement regarding President Obama's announced Clean Power Plan (CPP):

"The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to act with total disregard for the average American's energy bill in carrying out the will of this radical Administration. The decision to finalize the Clean Power Plan under the misinterpreted Section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act is an overstep of EPA authority that I am confident will be overturned by the courts. As a Representative of a state that is in line to be one of the most negatively-affected states under this rule, I am proud to have cosponsored H.R. 2042, the Ratepayer Protection Act, which passed the House on June 24th and will defer to judicial review until any of this costly rule is allowed to play out. The future health and prosperity of generations to come must always be considered in any policy decisions, but such decisions need not be based on ideological and politically-motivated goals alone."
