Congresswoman Chellie Pingree has joined a Congressional delegation on a trip to Ukraine to meet with top government officials and to Italy to meet with American military leaders.
"This is a good opportunity to talk to top European leaders face-to-face about how we can work together to support peace, cooperation and economic growth in the region," Pingree said. "We will also get a chance to meet with America's top military leaders on the ground in Europe and, I hope, meet a few Maine service members who are stationed there."
The trip is being led by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and also includes Reps. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, Anna Eshoo of California, Cedric Richmond of Louisiana, David Cicilline of Rhode Island and Marc Veasey of Texas.
The delegation will meet with government officials in Rome andreceive briefings in Naples at the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa Headquarters and the Allied Joint Forces Command Headquarters. They will also visit the Milan Expo 2015, where they will tour the USA Pavilion, "American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet." The delegation will then travel to Ukraine to meet with leaders in Kyiv to discuss key political andeconomic reforms and to affirm American support for the people of Ukraine.
