After Three Years, Cornyn Calls for Renewed Push to Bring Austin Tice Home

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement about Houston native Austin Tice, a Marine veteran and journalist who was taken captive in Syria three years ago today:

"Although he has received many accolades and worn many hats, Austin Tice is best known as friend, brother, and son. Today, his family and friends do not simply see a milestone of time lost, but another chance to push for action that will bring him home. I renew my call for Austin's immediate release by his captors, and I strongly urge the Administration to utilize all possible means to secure Austin's safe return. While nothing can undo the pain those who love him have endured, we must as a nation do everything we possibly can to find Austin and bring him safely home."

Senator Cornyn introduced legislation this June establishing an Interagency Hostage Recovery Coordinator to properly coordinate a unified government response to hostage situations like Austin Tice's and secure the release of all hostages held by terrorist groups and other bad actors.
