According to CBO, Ending the Sequester will Boost Economic Growth

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement in response to Congressional Budget Office's (CBO) letter on the economic impacts of eliminating discretionary sequestration cuts for 2016 and 2017:

"According to the non-partisan CBO, ending the senseless sequester cuts will boost economic growth and create hundreds of thousands of jobs over the next two years. The House Democratic budget invests in our country and our future -- so does the President's budget. Yet our Republican colleagues continue to ignore the facts and disinvest in America.

"Today's report underscores the immediate need to set funding levels that adequately invest in our country. Serious negotiations are long overdue if we're going to avoid another government shutdown. I hope the GOP will finally join us to help the countless families who feel like they're stuck in place or falling behind."
