Issues: Environment

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) State of the Climate in 2014 report:

"Today's report confirms that 2014 was the hottest year on record, and leading scientists are again highlighting the threat of climate change. We are already seeing the damaging impacts, especially in vulnerable coastal communities. We must act now.

"Fortunately, there's a clear path forward. I have introduced the Healthy Climate and Family Security Act to reduce carbon emissions and combat the dangerous effects of climate change, while putting more money in the pockets of American families. This approach tackles both the economic and health risks of climate change, and I call on my Republicans colleagues to embrace this common-sense solution."
