Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement on the death of Abid Gilani, a recent resident of Rockville, Maryland, in Tuesday's Amtrak crash:

"My heart goes out to the family of Abid Gilani, who tragically lost his life in Tuesday's Amtrak crash in Philadelphia. Trains should not derail in our country. Mr. Gilani's family, Marylanders, and all Americans deserve a quick and timely investigation, as well as swift action to ensure that this never happens again. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Gilani's family and all the victims' families during this difficult time."
