Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement marking Asian Pacific Heritage Month:

"May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month -- a month when we come together to honor the many sacrifices and contributions of Asian Pacific Americans to our nation. America is stronger because of the generations of immigrants who have helped build, defend, and truly enrich the United States.

"As we honor the contributions of Asian Pacific Americans, we renew our efforts to pass comprehensive immigration reform. This legislation would lead to more economic opportunity for all and finally ensure basic fairness and accountability in our immigration system. Passing these important reforms will help all Americans, including Asian Pacific Americans in Maryland and across the country."
