Udall, Heinrich to Co-host Sí Se Puede Small Business Workshop in Spanish

On Saturday, July 11, the offices of U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich will co-host the Sí Se Puede Small Business Workshop in Anthony to provide Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs and small business owners an opportunity to hear from successful local business leaders and learn about resources available to help small businesses take off and thrive.

Speakers at the event, entitled "Sí Se Puede! Abre o amplia tu negocio," will include representatives from two popular bi-national borderland businesses, Carnitas Queretaro and La Choza, who will share insights into how they achieved their success. The event will provide Doña Ana County and El Paso community members with access to more than a dozen small business development and support organizations that can share information about useful business tools and resources. Attendees will have opportunities to network with other small business owners and entrepreneurs, and discuss strategies for overcoming language and cultural barriers. All interested community members are invited to attend.

"Small businesses are a driving force behind economic development and job creation in New Mexico, and it's critical for aspiring entrepreneurs and current small business owners to know about available resources to help their businesses launch and grow," Udall said. "I'm pleased to co-host the Sí Se Puede Small Business Workshop to help Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs in southern New Mexico hear insight from successful local business leaders and learn about tools to jumpstart and expand their businesses. I encourage anyone interested in starting their own business or expanding their current business to attend."

But too often we see language barriers that prevent hopeful entrepreneurs from taking the next step to expand their business or start a new venture," Heinrich said. "At this event, attendees will participate in Spanish-language workshops and be provided with local resources and tools to start, expand, finance, and excel in their industries. This conference is also an opportunity for Spanish-speaking small business owners to hear from local business leaders and learn how to maximize visibility and navigate through the business start-up and expansion processes. Udall and Heinrich will co-host the event in partnership with the Rio Grande Council of Governments, the City of Anthony, the Small Business Development Center -- New Mexico, New Mexico State University's Arrowhead Center, the Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, and the Frontera Professionals Association.
