Capito: Human Trafficking Victims Will No Longer Go Unnoticed

Statement

Date: April 22, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) voted in favor of the bipartisan Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act today, which passed on a 99-0 vote.

"Republicans and Democrats joined together today to stand up for the countless victims of human trafficking and bolster the tools available to law enforcement to crack down on this horrendous crime. Going forward, these victims will no longer go unnoticed and without the services they need most.

"While not in large numbers, trafficking occurs in West Virginia's small communities and towns, in our hotels and truck stops and online. This critical legislation will make it easier for law enforcement to identify and address patterns of human trafficking and will provide much-needed resources to victims to help restore their lives."
