Schumer, Gillibrand Announce OVer $152,000 In Federal Funding For The Oneida Fire Department

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $152,858 in federal funding for the Oneida Fire Department. The money was allocated through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. The Oneida Department will use this federal investment to replace all of the fire department's Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) or air packs. The current inventory of the department's SCBAs are over twenty years old.

"It is critical that we provide our fire departments with the cutting edge equipment and breathing apparatuses they need to keep our firefighters safe, so they can do their jobs effectively," saidSenator Schumer. "Our first responders are our local heroes and our primary line of defense -- it is crucial provide them with the resources they need to continue their important work of saving lives."

"The Oneida Fire Department will use this funding to invest in critical equipment that will help keep firefighters safe during emergency situations and be able to carry out their lifesaving work more effectively," said Senator Gillibrand. "Our first responders are on the frontlines during emergencies and should have the most up-to-date equipment as they do their job protecting our community."
