Sen. Markey Reintroduces Resolution Declaring September Brain Aneurysm Month

Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) today introduced Senate Resolution 176, designating the month of September 2015 the "National Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month". The aim of the resolution is to raise awareness about the danger of brain aneurysms, educate the public about prevention, and highlight the need for further research regarding this serious illness. The resolution is co-sponsored by Senators Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). Senator Markey originally was urged to file the legislation by Massachusetts State Representative Paul J. Donato (D--Medford), who has led the charge on raising awareness of the dangers of brain aneurysms in the Massachusetts State Legislature and with his work with the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.

"Brain aneurysms kill silently, but we cannot be silent about the dangers of this terrible health issue," said Senator Markey. "We owe it to all of the families impacted by brain aneurysms to raise awareness and ensure they do not feel alone. This resolution will help educate people about this health issue and support research for its prevention, detection and treatment."
