Ayotte, Shaheen, Collins Applaud FCC Decision to Keep Boston Field Office Open

U.S. Senators Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today applauded the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC's) vote to approve a restructuring plan that keeps the Boston field office open:

"We are glad that the FCC listened to the concerns of New England residents and decided to keep the Boston field office open," said the Senators. "The Boston field office is critical to ensuring the Commission's ability to carry out its duties in a timely fashion, and we praise the FCC for finding a balanced solution that safeguards local area knowledge and public safety in New England and throughout the country, while also providing for more streamlined operation of the field offices."

The FCC's original restructuring plan called for the closure of the Boston FCC field office. In response, Senators Ayotte, Shaheen and Collins urged the commission to reconsider its proposal to close the Boston field office as a part of the organization's larger restructuring effort.
