Senator Ayotte Discusses Manufacturing Legislation, Rapid Group Partnership with Nashua Community College

U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) recently toured The Rapid Group's facility and met with company officials to discuss their manufacturing business, as well as their partnership with Nashua Community College on a job training program. Senator Ayotte highlighted the Manufacturing Skills Act, bipartisan legislation she introduced with Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) that incentivizes advanced manufacturers to partner with other stakeholders, like local officials and business leaders, to establish job training programs that better fit local workforce needs.

Ayotte also discussed legislation she introduced with a bipartisan coalition of senators to help schools strengthen their engineering programs and meet the growing demands of 21st century manufacturing. The bill would designate 25 universities as "Manufacturing Universities' and provide incentives to better align educational offerings with the needs of modern manufacturers. The incentives would be used to bolster universities' efforts to focus on manufacturing engineering and curricula specifically related to targeted industries.

"Partnerships like the one between The Rapid Group and Nashua Community College are vital in the effort to create, grow and fill manufacturing jobs in New Hampshire and across the United States," said Senator Ayotte. "I am grateful for this opportunity to hear directly from representatives of The Rapid Group and Nashua Community College about how legislation I helped introduce would strengthen job training programs like theirs, and I will continue my efforts in the Senate to strengthen the Granite State manufacturing economy."

Rapid Group companies manufacture metal prototypes, from sheet metal, machined and stamped prototypes to custom wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
