PROCLAMATION
INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CAMP DAY
JUNE 25, 2005

WHEREAS, for 50 years, the International Music Camp has been providing educational opportunities to young people from around the world; and

WHEREAS, located at the International Peace Garden, the camp serves as a tribute to the youth of our world and our universal appreciation for music and the arts; and

WHEREAS, inspired by Dr. Merton Utgaard and nurtured by hundreds of dedicated followers, the International Music Camp has evolved from a one-week session with one band to an eight-week program offering many fields of study, including music, dance, creative writing, painting and drawing; and

WHEREAS, more than 100,000 students have attended the International Music Camp since its inception, representing every state and province in the United States and Canada, and more than 70 countries worldwide; and

WHEREAS, North Dakota citizens are encouraged to recognize the board of directors, staff, artist-teachers, conductors, clinicians and students for their dedication and contributions to the International Music Camp and the youth of our world; and
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim
June 25, 2005, INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CAMP DAY in the state of North Dakota.
