PROCLAMATION
HOMEOWNERSHIP MONTH
JUNE 2005

WHEREAS, homeownership is a key component of the American Dream, stabilizing neighborhoods, producing healthy communities and helping families build economic security; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a home is the largest financial investment most households make, building wealth, providing a tangible asset and strengthening personal responsibility; and
WHEREAS, homeowners work to maintain their investment, creating a greater concern for their neighborhood and making them stakeholders in their community; and
WHEREAS, North Dakota's affordable housing partners are working together to increase homeownership opportunities for the people of our state by providing housing counseling, down-payment assistance and flexible mortgage financing so more citizens can experience the joy, security and sense of community that comes with owning their own home; and
WHEREAS, throughout Homeownership Month, we recognize the local, state, federal, private and non-profit housing professionals who are dedicated to helping North Dakotans achieve the homeownership dream; and
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim
June 2005, HOMEOWNERSHIP MONTH in the state of North Dakota.
