U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) today released the following statement regarding the retirement of Manchester Police Chief David Mara:

"For nearly thirty years, Chief Mara has served the Manchester Police Department with skill, dedication, and professionalism. A well-respected leader in New Hampshire law enforcement, he has worked tirelessly to build trust and cooperation between the Department and all of the communities that make up our state's largest city. He has also brought an innovative problem-solving approach to the heroin epidemic sweeping across northern New England, and promoted an "all hands on deck' approach including enforcement, prevention, education and treatment. I commend Chief Mara for his outstanding service to our state and wish him and his family the very best in every future endeavor."
