DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE
MAY 1-8, 2005
WHEREAS, the history of the Holocaust offers an opportunity to reflect on the moral responsibilities of individuals, societies and governments; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of North Dakota should always remember the tragic events of the Holocaust and remain vigilant against hatred, persecution and tyranny; and
WHEREAS, the Days of Remembrance have been set aside for the people of our state to remember the victims of the Holocaust, as well as to reflect on the importance of respect for all and individual freedom in a just society; and
WHEREAS, in memory of the Holocaust victims, and in honor of the survivors, as well as the rescuers and liberators, citizens of North Dakota should strive to overcome intolerance and indifference through learning and remembrance; and
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim May 1-8, 2005, DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE for the state of North Dakota.
