CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS WEEK
MAY 1-7, 2005

WHEREAS, much is expected from the men and women who work in our state and county correctional facilities; and
WHEREAS, correctional officers are skilled professionals who must act as counselors, communicators and experts at crisis intervention, and must preserve the safety of our lives and property; and
WHEREAS, North Dakota's prisons, correctional camps, halfway houses and county facilities operate efficiently because of the hard work and dedication of our state and county correctional officers; and
WHEREAS, the State of North Dakota is proud to join with the International Association of Correctional Officers in celebrating Correctional Officers Week and in urging all citizens to recognize these men and women who serve so faithfully; and
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim May 1-7, 2005, CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
